The George W. Trapp Company is a Michigan based 3rd generation family business.
.
The company started during the Depression in 1930 and was first called Great Lakes Screen Company. George Trapp launched the business building wood screens in a small shop in his garage.
In the beginning, he ran a retail operation in the front of the building and the family lived in the back. As business increased, they expanded into a new shop and storefront on Livernois in Detroit. In 1943, Mr. Trapp purchased a factory in Redford Township and the name was changed to the George W. Trapp Company. The company began manufacturing storm windows and storm doors and selling wholesale to dealers in the Detroit area and throughout Michigan.
In the late 1960’s we began welding our storm doors and storm windows with a heliarc weld that has the strongest guarantee in the industry. Since that time well over one million Trapp® Storm Doors have been installed on hundreds of thousands of homes throughout the region. If you grew up in Michigan from 1943 to today, chances are you’ve walked through a Trapp® Storm Door!
